I will say that this last weekend was the start of a new beginning. New friendships, new partnerships, a new season, and more importantly a quiet seriousness about the season ahead. The weekend for the 5 of us (Scott, Michael, Corey, Jesse and myself-Collin) took place in and around Fredericksburg Texas. The goal of this trip was to scout some routes for the upcoming training camp while at the same time building team chemistry and camaraderie.
Before our trip officially started Cindy Young provided us with a feast fit for kings
Thanks Cindy!!
rest and rejuvenation took place here... would that be r&r??
We started saturday morning with full bellies and hearts filled with glee as we took in our surroundings and departed for our ride. Ahh its just 80 miles right, no big deal??!! Wellll, about 60 miles into the ride I was signing a totally different tune!! 32 miles after that, i rolled back into camp cross eyed, calorie depleted, and way way ready to be off the bike!! Fellas there is a big difference between 90 miles in the DFW/ wichita falls area and the hill country!! Jeez.
Sunday was 3.5 hours of pure bliss. Beautiful smooth roads and ample amounts of sunshine that made the high 50's weather feel jussst right. The ride flowed extremely well and we were able to keep a pretty pace going without a huge amount of effort. There were still a few climbs but they were gradual and longer versus the many "punchy" climbs that we encountered on saturday.
Check out our rides here...
Overall we enjoyed 2 days of superb riding in stellar weather and its honestly hard to return to the normal rides that we all do from week to week. I'm excited about this year and this was a great weekend to start it all!!
A big thanks goes out to Michael and Cindy Young who made this weekend possible. Thank you guys so much!!
